The Arizona Senate Republicans said Senate Democrats "showed their acceptance for males and females being forced to shower together' following a vote to pass a bill requiring public schools to provide private showers to crossdressing students.
"Republicans voted ‘yes’ on requiring public schools to provide private showers to transgender kids so that ALL children can feel safe and comfortable, posted the AZ Senate Republicans on X. "Senate Democrats voted ‘no’ and showed their acceptance for males and females being forced to shower together, despite the increased risk of sexual assaults on teenage girls.
SB 1182, sponsored by Sen. John Kavanagh (R-Fountain Hills), would require a public school to "provide access to a single-occupancy or employee shower room to a person who is unwilling or unable to use a multioccupancy shower room designated for the person's sex and submits satisfactory evidence to the school."
The bill passed on a straight party-line vote, with all Republicans voting yes and all "no" votes coming from Democrats
This bill now heads to the House for consideration.
