Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs stated she is "not a fan of debates," deferring discussions to pundits and advising not to compare President Joe Biden to "the Almighty" but rather to the "alternative." This statement was shared on June 28 by user Matt Kownacki on Brahm Resnik's post reporting Hobbs's commentary.
"As you know I am not a fan of debates," said Hobbs, Arizona State Executive - Governor.
In 2021, Hobbs declined to participate in debates with her GOP opponent Kari Lake, citing concerns about the nature of the discussions so close to Election Day. According to The Hill, Hobbs, then serving as Arizona's secretary of state, consistently refused to engage in debates with her opponent, a former television anchor supported by former President Trump, who has disputed the results of the 2020 election. This decision followed a primary debate where Lake reiterated claims about the 2020 election and criticized Democrats.

"Look, as you know, I am not a fan of debates, and I know the pundits like to talk about them, and I'll leave that to you. As the president himself has said, don't compare him to the Almighty, compare him to the alternative, and by that metric, the choice is abundantly clear in this race," said Hobbs in response to being asked for her opinions on presidential debates according to an X post by Brahm Resnik.
In 2022, Katie Hobbs was elected as the fifth woman and fifth Arizona native to become Governor of Arizona. She began her political career by winning a seat in the Arizona House of Representatives in 2010.
