National Breastfeeding Month highlights extensive support resources

In August, National Breastfeeding Month was celebrated across the nation. Throughout the year, efforts are focused on sharing evidence-based breastfeeding education and resources with families and professionals.

The ADHS breastfeeding support website at GoBreastmilk.org offers a wide range of information tailored for unique situations. Additionally, the Arizona Breastfeeding Hotline (1-800-833-4642) is available 24/7 in English and Spanish, with services for other languages as well.

First Feed is a weekly virtual breastfeeding education and support group open to the public. Training and resources are also provided for professionals who work directly with families.

Several courses are offered to enhance knowledge about breastfeeding:

**Breastfeeding Boot Camp:** A five-day virtual course covering topics from pregnancy to weaning.

**Audience:** Anyone interested in developing critical skills related to supporting families during their breastfeeding journey.

**Introduction to Breastfeeding Online Course:** An overview of breastfeeding basics available in Fall 2024.

**LATCH-AZ:** One-day advanced lactation education sessions presented by experts, available live or recorded.

**Audience:** Professionals with a basic understanding of breastfeeding seeking updated research and trends.

Resources are also available for businesses and healthcare professionals aiming to create a breastfeeding-friendly environment:

- **Childcare:** Tips on creating a supportive childcare center and easing transitions back to work or school.

- **Employers:** Information on accommodating employees who need to express milk during work hours.

- **Hospitals:** Resources on maternity care practices essential for successful breastfeeding.

- **Healthcare Providers/Community Partners:** Tools for evaluating how breastfeeding-friendly offices or facilities are.
