Of the 1,115,160 students enrolled in Arizona schools during the 2023-24 school year, 48.2% identified as Hispanic or Latino, according to the Arizona Department of Education.

This equates to 538,054 Hispanic or Latino students at the time, which is an increase over the previous year's total of 535,803.

A 2023 study from Scholaroo ranked Arizona last out of all U.S. states in terms of educational success, giving the state poor marks for school quality, student success, and teacher-to-student ratio.

Additionally, WalletHub also claimed Arizona’s school system ranked among the worst across U.S. for class size, performance, funding, safety, and instructors’ credentials.
