The Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) and the Coconino County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) have released an update on the investigation into the fatal multi-vehicle collision that occurred on Interstate 40 near Williams, Arizona, on March 13, 2025.

Investigators have confirmed that a BMW SUV was involved in the collision. As of March 23, additional human remains were discovered within the debris from the crash site. Authorities are working to determine if these remains belong to South Korean nationals who were reported missing around the time of the incident.

The aftermath of the collision included a severe fire that has complicated identification efforts. The Yavapai County Medical Examiner's Office is engaged in careful examination to identify the remains, despite significant damage.

Authorities acknowledge "the urgency and emotional toll this uncertainty places on families and the public" and request patience as they continue their work. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
