KoMiCo announced plans to open a semiconductor equipment cleaning and coating facility in Mesa, Arizona. Following a purchase agreement signed today, construction is set to commence on a facility for cleaning, coating, and repairing advanced semiconductor equipment parts. Expected to complete by 2026, the project will create more than 200 jobs in the region.

"KoMiCo is proud to partner with the City of Mesa in further establishing the Silicon Desert as the most technologically advanced semiconductor manufacturing region in the United States," stated Shawn Jang, CEO, KoMiCo U.S.

The proposed facility, located in the Superstition Springs area of Mesa, will feature cleanrooms, cutting-edge equipment, and diagnostic tools. This endeavor represents a significant capital investment of over $50 million and will become KoMiCo's most extensive U.S. location, comprising a 12.5-acre site and a 125,000-square-foot building.

Operating in regions like South Korea, Singapore, China, Taiwan, and the U.S., KoMiCo serves some of the world's largest fab clusters. The firm provides critical cleaning and coating services using high-performance equipment and systems in controlled environments. This attention to detail helps reduce downtime for fab tools, according to company representatives.

Sandra Watson, President and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority, said, "KoMiCo's new facility adds to Arizona’s dynamic semiconductor ecosystem and further emphasizes our state’s global significance for this critical industry."

Chris Camacho, President and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, commented, "KoMiCo’s technology allowing for the service of the most advanced chips in the world helps Greater Phoenix continue to distinguish itself as a leader in the semiconductor ecosystem."

Mesa Mayor John Giles highlighted the significance of this development by saying, "This investment is not just a win for Mesa, but for American manufacturing as we continue to build on the momentum created by the CHIPS and Science Act."

Area Councilmember Scott Somers added, "I am excited to have KoMiCo bring well-paid jobs in advanced technology manufacturing to Mesa District 6."

KoMiCo functions as a part of the MiCo group which includes MiCo Ceramics, MiCo Power, MiCo BioMed, and MiCo Ltd, with these entities contributing to the semiconductor industry.
