All You Need to Know about Hospice
Description
Hospice is a benefit that cares for a person in the last six months of their life. A doctor must certifiy that they have a terminal diagnosis and they are choosing comfort care and not curative treatment.. The care supports the patient and their family wherever they call home. It provides expertise in pain and symptom management, with the goal of keeping the person at home and to teach their family or caregives how to care for them. In addition to routine home visits, hospice is available 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week as needed for after hour emergencies and support. Hospice care often prevents the need to go to the ER or hospital. The hospice team members include: RN, Social Worker, Home Heath Aid, Spritual Counselor, Volunteer and Hospice MD.
