Arizona state Senate candidate Wendy Rogers said the Republican National Convention impressed her and her neighbors in Flagstaff.
“I think it really set President Donald Trump apart from Joe Biden. President Trump's message was positive and provided hope for the future. It also focused on law and order,” Rogers told the Grand Canyon Times.
Trump made his acceptance speech from the White House South Lawn, highlighting the pre-pandemic gains of his administration, MPR News reported.
“In a new term as president, we will again build the greatest economy in history, quickly returning to full employment, soaring incomes and record prosperity,” he said, MPR News reported.
Former Vice President Joe Biden received much criticism in the speech, as Trump labeled his Democratic rival as “radical left.”
“I think a lot of people moved toward President Trump during that convention. It is clear that under President Trump, the economy will get even better and jobs and wages will improve drastically," Rogers told the Grand Canyon Times.
Rogers, the Republican candidate for Arizona Senate District 6, was born in Fort Knox, Kentucky. She served in the U.S. Air Force from 1976 to 1996 as a jet pilot and reached the rank of lieutenant colonel.
Trump called out Biden for socialist ties.
“If Joe Biden doesn’t have the strength to stand up to wild-eyed Marxists like Bernie Sanders and his fellow radicals, then how is he ever going to stand up for you? He’s not,” Trump said, MPR News reported.
Ann Dorn’s husband, David, was killed by an individual looting a store during a protest for racial justice in June, MPR News reported. She shared the story of her husband, a retired police captain, at the Republic National Convention.
“I relive that horror in my mind every single day,” Dorn said, MPR News reported. “My hope is that having you relive it with me now will help shake this country from the nightmare we are witnessing in our cities and bring about positive, peaceful change.”
