A forensic audit of the voting systems will be performed in Maricopa County after the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors voted to hire independent companies to do the audit.

The board voted at a meeting on Wednesday to hire the two independent firms to conduct the audit, which will be a review of the county’s voting machines on whether or not the machines properly and correctly counted votes. It will also look to see if the votes were tampered with or if the machines were hacked.

“Maricopa County elections were administered with integrity throughout 2020,” Board chairman Jack Sellers said in a statement, The Epoch Times reported. “That’s a fact. Multiple audits to date have proved as much, and multiple court rulings have concurred.”

The board has expressed hope that the audit would dispel concerns regarding the accuracy of the vote in the county.

“It’s also true that a significant number of voters want the additional assurance that a full forensic audit of tabulation equipment might bring, especially given all the misinformation that spread following the November 3 election,” Sellers said in the statement.

The audit will be multi-layered, including software, hardware and financial reviews. It will also look for malware and will perform a test to verify that information was not sent over the Internet by tabulators. A test for logic and accuracy will also be performed to see if ballots were accurately counted and to confirm if any ballots were switched.

“I really want to alleviate their concerns and their issues with whatever it is we are doing and convince them that this was in fact truly an honest election with good integrity,” Sellers said, the Epoch Times reported.

Arizona Sen. Warren Petersen (R-Gilbert) still believes a Senate audit needs to be performed.

“A county audit will not prevent the Senate from doing their own audit,” Petersen said to Fox 10, The Epoch Times reported. “My concern with the county audit is that the scope of the audit is an inch deep. With the limited scope they have asked to be audited, they are guaranteed to find nothing.”
