The founder of American Majority Action (AMA) said today that anyone "pushing an alternative" Arizona Republican Party Chair candidate to incumbent Gina Swoboda is "directly opposing" President Donald Trump (R).
“I am happy to endorse Gina Swoboda’s re-election to Arizona GOP Chair," Ryun told Grand Canyon Times. "Under her leadership, Donald Trump not only won Arizona handily, the GOP increased its majority in the legislature and now has the most Conservative legislature in state history.”
“President Trump has made his endorsement of Gina clear, announcing from the Turning Point USA stage in December that she has his full endorsement," said Ryun. "In my opinion, anyone pushing an alternative candidate is directly opposing Trump’s America First agenda and a winning future for the Arizona GOP.”
Ryun is founder and CEO of AMA, an advocacy organization that wants to “put in place new conservative grassroots political infrastructure.” He recently released his latest book, American Leviathan: The Birth of the Administrative State and Progressive Authoritarianism.
AMA announced it made more than 3.25 million voter contacts in Arizona in the 2024 elections, including over 600,000 live conversations, as part of its push to increase conservative early voter turnout in the state, reported the Grand Canyon Times in November.
Swoboda has been the chair of the Arizona Republican Party since January 27, 2024. She succeeded acting Chair Jill Norgaard after Jeff DeWit's resignation.
With Swoboda as chair, Trump won Arizona's 11 electoral votes with 52.2% of the vote, defeating Kamala Harris, who received 46.7%. In the U.S. House of Representatives races, Republicans maintained their six seats,
Republicans also increased their majority in the Arizona State Senate to 17 seats. The Democrats now hold just 13 seats. In the Arizona House, Republicans now hold 31 seats to the Democrats 29.
"Since taking over, Swoboda has somewhat magically kept the two wings of the party from engaging in open warfare during the election, which ended with victories up and down the ballot for Republicans," reported Arizona Agenda this week.
Trump endorsed Swoboda for re-election as chair during a speech at Turning Point USA's December 2024 "AMFEST", held in Phoenix.
"Gina, are you going to run again?" Trump asked from the stage. "Because if you do, you have my endorsement."
Swoboda is a certified elections officer with experience in the Arizona Secretary of State’s office under two administrations. She also was the State Director of Election Day Operations for President Donald Trump in the 2020 elections. She also has worked as chief elections policy officer for Restoration of America and the executive director of the Voter Reference Foundation, a national nonprofit organization focused on ensuring free and fair elections across the United State
An Arizona State University graduate, Swoboda earned her degree magna cum laud. She has been married for 29 years and is the mother of two children.
The Arizona GOP will hold election for the chair position at this Saturday's Arizona Republican Party statutory meeting.
