Arizona Secretary of State issued the following announcement on Aug. 26.
Beyond the majesty of the Grand Canyon’s views, many lives have been lived. These lives and their adventures in and around the Grand Canyon are the subject of the newest Arizona Memory Project collection. The Grand Canyon Historical Society Oral History Project collection includes more than 25 interviews, just a small selection of the over 100 interviews conducted by the Grand Canyon Historical Society. These interviews include Colorado River rafters, Harvey Girls, uranium mining, air transportation and disasters, park administration and growth, and general life at the Canyon.
“The Grand Canyon Historical Society is honored to work with the Arizona Memory Project to preserve the oral histories of the Grand Canyon region,” said Tom Martin, Grand Canyon Historical Society board member.
