PHOENIX – Secretary of State Adrian Fontes announced today that key functions of his Business Services Division, used by thousands of companies inside and outside of Arizona, moved completely online as part of Business One Stop, a single web portal that integrates services across state government.

"Time really does equal money. For too long, businesses looking to open in Arizona, and those already here, have had to endure a slow and inefficient process that failed to perform to the standards demanded by an increasingly global, 21st century economy," Secretary of State Fontes said. "Upon taking office, I directed my team to accelerate the integration of our office’s services into Business One Stop to ensure that Arizona remains a leader in growth and job creation. Today, we take a big step closer to aligning these essential government services with an increasingly digital economy."

As of this month, businesses located in Arizona and in other states in the U.S., can now set up limited and general partnerships using Business One Stop. These crucial functions join other services, such as registering trademarks and tradenames, which are already available via the online platform.

Currently in Phase II of its development, Business One Stop is a collaboration across different state agencies headed by the Arizona Department of Administration. Other SOS services on tap for integration into the web portal in future phases of development include trademark renewals, UCC filings, and notary applications.

Also this month, Secretary Fontes successfully secured $400,000 in additional funding in the state budget to raise wages for his Business Services Division to aid in the retention and recruitment of essential employees who approve millions of dollars in investment into Arizona’s economy.

On May 1, Business One Stop received a State IT Innovation of the Year Award as part of the annual StateScoop 50 awards.
