PHOENIX – On Election Day for several municipalities in Arizona, Secretary of State Adrian Fontes reminded voters to drop off their ballots for their votes to be counted.

Secretary Fontes said: "For those Arizonans living in places with elections today, it is important that you drop off your ballots to ensure that your voice is heard since the deadline for mailing in ballots has passed. Local elections are the foundation of our democratic system, so I encourage every eligible voter to utilize their sacred franchise."

The deadline for voters to send in their ballots through the U.S. Mail has passed in every jurisdiction holding elections today. Voting in all jurisdictions for today’s elections is conducted completely by mail. All ballots must be received by the designated election department in the respective jurisdiction by 7:00 pm local time. It is important to note that any ballots received after this stipulated time will regrettably be ineligible for acceptance.

All voters should take this deadline into consideration when submitting their ballots, as mailing ballots with a postmark is not a valid alternative for meeting the deadline requirement at this stage of the election.

Furthermore, the official results of the election will be posted on the respective jurisdictions' official websites after 8:00 pm local time tonight. The public should exercise patience and understanding as the election authorities work diligently to compile and validate the results accurately. Rest assured that every effort will be made to ensure transparency, integrity, and timely dissemination of the election outcome.

The Secretary of State's Office encourages all eligible voters to stay informed by regularly visiting the individual jurisdiction's official websites for the most up-to-date information regarding the election results. Your active participation and engagement in this democratic process are greatly appreciated.

The Secretary of State’s office will not be publishing results for the May 16th election. Initial results will be available on county and city websites.
