Jevin Hodge has been chosen by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors to serve as a representative for the Democrats in the Arizona House of Representatives. This appointment came about following Athena Salman's resignation on January 1 to transition into a career in healthcare.

According to a press release from the Arizona House Democrats, Hodge was born and raised in Tempe, where he resided in public housing. He is an alumnus of George Washington University and subsequently held the position of Director of National Engagement, Partnerships, and Innovation at LINK Strategic Partners, a consulting firm. In addition to his professional roles, Hodge presides as President and Chairman of the board for a non-profit organization known as Booker T. Washington Child Development Center.

In a statement released by the Arizona House Democrats, Hodge said, "The American Dream is alive and well. I am living proof. Growing up, my family didn’t have much. We lived in public housing and we needed government assistance just to get by. Slowly, our lives got better. My mother always told me to never forget where we came from - and to make sure we found a way to give back. I am humbled by this appointment and grateful to all who supported me. Now, it’s time to get to work. My door is open to anyone who wants to make a difference for Arizona."

As reported by azcentral, Hodge made an attempt for a U.S. House Representative seat in 2022 where he ran against David Schweikert (R-Ariz). Despite leading the election over several days, Hodge's lead gradually diminished until he was eventually surpassed by Schweikert.
