Kari Lake, a candidate for the US Senate, announced earlier this month that she was establishing the Families Fighting Fentanyl Coalition. She appointed Clark and Karen Griffin, parents who lost their son Tyler to fentanyl poisoning, as co-chairs of the coalition.

"We need a warrior who will fight the fentanyl crisis with a vengeance. Kari Lake's opponent not only denies the border crisis, but he has rubber-stamped Biden policies that have made the problem so much worse," said parents Clark and Karen Griffin, who lost their son to fentanyl poisoning. "We can't bring our son Tyler back, but we will do everything we can to send Kari Lake to Washington DC to help prevent more families from going through the tragedy that we did. We are incredibly honored to be asked to lead Kari's ‘Families Fighting Fentanyl' Coalition and we look forward to watching her tackle this issue head on in the United States Senate."

According to a May 16 report by AZPM, Arizona ranks among the worst states in terms of fentanyl prevalence. The outlet cites a study funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse stating that "Arizona had the highest number of pill seizures" in 2023, and "the second-highest number of overall seizures of powder and pills combined."

The Griffins have been named as co-chairs in Lake's new coalition, and will help lead the movement and raise awareness of the issue.

Lake is a former news industry professional now running for U.S. Senate. Her platform includes securing the border through a 10-point plan, cutting inflation and reducing the deficit, ensuring water for the west, improving education, addressing homelessness and quality of life, and making America energy dominant. These points are outlined on her campaign website. Lake previously ran for Governor of Arizona in 2022.
