On May 5 in Douglas, Border Patrol agents arrested a Mexican national and child predator. The man had previously been convicted of felony aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a minor under 13 years old, according to a post from U.S. Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens.

The Navajo-Hopi Observer reported on May 21 that the Navajo County Criminal Interdiction Unit arrested two Mexican nationals, Roldolfo Yepez-Sanchez and Kevin Roberto Cardenas-Sierra following a traffic stop. Both men were charged with felony transportation of narcotic drugs, possession of narcotic drugs for sale, and possession of narcotic drugs, with Cardenas-Sierra facing additional charges including firearm possession. Both men were placed on immigration holds.

John R. Modlin, Chief Patrol Agent of the U.S. Border Patrol's Tucson Sector, shared on X that Brian A. Terry Station agents arrested Mexican national Francisco Saucedo-Vasquez on May 25. Saucedo-Vasquez, a convicted felon, had previously been deported. According to Modlin, in 2005, Saucedo-Vasquez had been convicted for felony sex with a minor, and he has an active warrant out of San Bernardino, California.

Additionally, Modlin shared that on May 27, Tucson and Nogales Station agents stopped a vehicle that crossed the U.S.-Border by removing barriers. Eleven smuggled migrants, including the driver, were arrested.

The Laken Riley Act would require the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to detain non-citizens who have been arrested for crimes like burglary, theft, and shoplifting. The bill passed through the House for consideration by the US Senate. Seven members of Arizona's House delegation voted in favor of the bill, including five Republicans and two Democrats, while Reps. Ruben Gallego (D) and Paul Gosar (R) abstained from voting.

Since President Biden took office, over 7.2 million illegal immigrants have entered the United States. According to a report from Fox News, this figure is larger than the population of 36 US States.
