Kari Lake, U.S. Senate candidate for Arizona, criticized her opponent Ruben Gallego's support for President Biden's border policies, describing them as "disastrous actions" motivated by politics. The Lake campaign issued this statement in a press release on June 4.
"Later Today and years too late, Joe Biden is expected to announce executive measures to secure our border in what can be seen as nothing other than a politically-motivated move in an election year," said Kari Lake Campaign, Kari Lake Campaign. "Ruben Gallego will no doubt see this as a politically convenient opportunity to support Biden's actions and claim that he has done something to secure the border as well. Joe Biden halted construction on the border wall, ended Remain in Mexico, brought back catch and release, and let Title 42 expire. Gallego supported Biden's disastrous actions."
According to the press release, Representative Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) has been "in lockstep with Biden," citing his voting record against declaring a state of emergency at the southern border. He also voted against the Secure the Border Act of 2023 and opposed removing illegal immigrants with criminal convictions from the United States.
The press release further noted that Gallego voted for the Build Back Better Act in 2021, which would have provided amnesty to approximately 6.5 million illegal immigrants if passed. Additionally, he co-sponsored the Safeguarding Sanctuary Cities Act.
"Arizonans won’t so easily forget the three years that Biden and Gallego spent refusing to secure our border as millions of illegal aliens came into our country unvetted, drugs poured into our communities, and crime skyrocketed," said the Lake campaign in the press release.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Lake campaign shared a video of President Trump endorsing Kari Lake for U.S. Senate, captioned, "President Trump: ‘@KariLake is Going to Be Your Next Senator."
Kari Lake is running for the United States Senate in Arizona. She was previously the Republican nominee for Governor of Arizona in 2022.
