The cost of pasta in at Fry's Food Stores has increased by 408% since President Joe Biden's (D) Inauguration Day in 2021.
That’s according to an analysis of Fry’s Food Stores' grocery ads by Grand Canyon Times.
A 12 oz. box of Ronzoni pasta at the supermarket chain has a price of $2.49 as of September 4, 2024, which is $2.00 more than the $0.49 for the same size box of pasta on January 20, 2021.
That marks a total increase of 408% for pasta since 2021 at Fry’s, outpacing the supposed 2.2% inflation rate for the food index over the last year, as reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
Arizona had the highest inflation rates in the country as of July 2024, according to a report by Grand Canyon Times. Since January of 2021, the state has seen a 21.8% increase in the cost of goods and services, surpassing the national average of 20.2%.
Headquartered in Tolleson, Ariz., Fry's Food Stores operates as a chain of 120 supermarkets across the state.
Founded in 1954 by Donald Fry in California, the company expanded into Arizona by 1960. Kroger Co. acquired Fry's in 1983, integrating it into one of the largest supermarket chains in the United States.
