Kari Lake announced a new endorsement from the Arizona Fraternal Order of Police in her run for the U.S. Senate, stating, "I am honored to be endorsed by the Arizona Fraternal Order of Police," in a Sept. 3 news release.
"On behalf of the Arizona Fraternal Order of Police (F.O.P.) and its over 9,400 members, I am pleased to announce that the Arizona F.O.P. has endorsed you for Arizona U.S. Senator. Your endorsement by the F.O.P., one of Arizona’s largest police organizations, is based on your demonstrated support of significant public safety issues and reflects our belief that you best understand the difficult job faced by members of the law enforcement community. Your support of those efforts has not gone unnoticed," wrote Paul Sheldon, President of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Arizona State Lodge, according to a news release from Lake’s campaign dated Sept. 3.
In that same news release, Lake issued her own statement acknowledging the endorsement.
"I am honored to be endorsed by the Arizona Fraternal Order of Police. In the U.S. Senate, I will be their voice in Washington D.C. by working to improve the working conditions and ensuring the safety of our law enforcement officials," said Lake in her statement.
In the full letter of endorsement provided in Lake’s endorsement announcement, Sheldon writes about the FOP.
"The Arizona F.O.P. represents the interests of professional law enforcement officers working in agencies throughout the State. We are committed to improving the working conditions of law enforcement officers and the safety of those we serve through education, legislation, information, community involvement, and employee representation. The Arizona F.O.P.'s efforts result in many benefits and rights for Arizona law enforcement officers. The F.O.P. is the voice of those who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving our communities, states, and nation."
According to her biography on her campaign website, Lake spent 27 years as a news reporter in Arizona before transitioning into politics. In 2022, she was nominated as the Republican candidate for governor and received an endorsement from former President Donald Trump.
