Senate Republicans have expressed strong disapproval of a curriculum at the University of Arizona Nursing School. The curriculum reportedly includes lessons on discussing gender identity with pediatric patients, starting as young as three years old. An image shared by a whistleblower and circulated on social media shows a lesson plan from within the university's nursing school.

Senator Janae Shamp (R-29), Vice-Chair of the Senate Committee on Health & Human Services, criticized the curriculum, stating, "I'm absolutely sickened that this institution of higher learning is perpetuating the lie that a person's gender is based off feelings and not their God-given biological sex established upon conception." She expressed concern over what she termed "groomer garbage" aimed at confusing children.

Senator Justine Wadsack (R-17), Vice-Chair of the Senate Committee on Education, also voiced her discontent: "This is a disgusting use of your taxpayer dollars. Every single parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle or anyone with a heart for children should be infuriated that this is happening at one of our prestigious universities." She emphasized her personal connection to the university and her dissatisfaction with its current direction.

Senator Ken Bennett (R-1), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Education, stated his intent to see action taken by President Robbins to prevent such curriculum from being taught again. He remarked, "It is our obligation as lawmakers to stop this extremist agenda that continues to target minors in a predatory fashion."

Additionally, Senator T.J. Shope (R-16), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health & Human Services, warned that if the issue remains unresolved, Senate Republicans would consider all options to ensure state funds are not used inappropriately. He highlighted concerns about children's mental health and the impact on healthcare industry standards.
