Improvement projects in the Phoenix area will lead to freeway closures and lane restrictions this weekend, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). The closures include sections of westbound US 60 in Tempe and parts of Interstate 10 in the West Valley. ADOT advises drivers to plan for extra travel time and use detour routes during these restrictions.

Westbound I-10 will be closed between 35th and 83rd avenues from Friday night to Saturday afternoon for pavement sealing. Both ramps from Interstate 17 to westbound I-10 at the "Stack" interchange will be closed, along with the northbound Loop 202 ramp to westbound I-10. The westbound I-10 on-ramp at 27th Avenue will also be inaccessible. Drivers are encouraged to exit ahead of these closures and follow alternate routes.

On Saturday night through Sunday afternoon, eastbound I-10 will close between 83rd and 35th avenues for similar work. Ramps from northbound Loop 202 and southbound Loop 101 to eastbound I-10 will be closed, as well as the eastbound I-10 on-ramp at 91st Avenue. Detours via McDowell Road are suggested.

Additionally, westbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) will shut down between Loop 101 (Price Freeway) and I-10 from Friday evening until early Monday morning due to a traffic shift related to the Broadway Curve Improvement Project. Drivers can detour using Loop 101 or other alternative routes.

Northbound SR 143 near Sky Harbor Airport is set for closure from Friday night until Monday morning for construction purposes. Other closures include segments of northbound SR143 between Broadway Road and I-10.

For ongoing construction as part of the Broadway Curve Improvement Project, westbound I-10 narrows between US 60 and 32nd Street starting Friday night until Monday morning. Some ramps in this area will also close temporarily.

Bridge work necessitates closing both directions of on-and off-ramps at I-40th Street over the weekend, while certain lanes on eastbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) will close temporarily on Saturday for barrier wall work.

These schedules may change due to weather or other factors. ADOT continues planning new freeways, additional lanes, and improvements under Maricopa County's Regional Transportation Plan funded partly by Proposition 400 sales tax revenue approved by voters in past years.

Real-time highway conditions can be accessed through ADOT’s Arizona Traveler Information site or their mobile app.
