The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has announced the scheduled closure of the eastbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) on-ramp at Gilbert Road, beginning at 11:30 p.m. on Friday, April 11. This closure will last approximately 60 days and is part of a broader initiative to reconstruct the ramp in Chandler and Gilbert.

During the closure, drivers are advised to consider alternate routes via the eastbound Loop 202 on-ramps at Cooper or Lindsay roads. This reconstruction is a component of a $200 million improvement project aimed at enhancing lanes and interchange facilities along an 8-mile stretch of Loop 202, between Loop 101 (Price Freeway) and Val Vista Drive.

The project is partially funded by Proposition 400, which Maricopa County voters passed in 2004, instituting a half-cent sales tax. This tax supports developments outlined in the Regional Transportation Plan managed by the Maricopa Association of Governments, the planning organization for the Greater Phoenix area.

Additionally, the westbound Loop 202 on-ramp at Gilbert Road is expected to reopen by 11 p.m. on April 26, as its reconstruction nears completion.
