West Region, Arizona CPI report shows 7.1% inflation rate as critics report overall prices are still high

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics issued its latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) summary on Tuesday, which found that the rate of inflation over the last 12 months for the West Region, including Arizona, stands at 7.1%, effectively reporting inflation is still significantly present in the economy. In the last year, food costs have risen by 9.9%, energy costs have increased by 14.7% and core inflation, or all items less food and energy, have increased by 6.0%.
