In the continued effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, Gov. Doug Ducey issued a stay-at-home executive order.
The order comes at the recommendation of public health officials who are tracking data specific to Arizona, and follows new guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), promoting increased physical distancing while encouraging social connectedness among citizens. The order went into effect at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 31.
Under the Executive Order, Arizonans shall limit their time away from their place of residence or property.
With the announcement of the stay-at-home executive order, it was also announced that schools in Arizona will remain closed for the remainder of the year.
Local schools will move to online instruction and/or school packets to be completed at home, and will keep their meal plans going for takeout only. Also, students will not be required to pass any federal testing for this school year.
