Sen. Martha McSally met with National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) members during a virtual annual Fly-In event, which addresses urgent COVID-19 issues, including Paycheck Protection Program funding and other financial needs.

The Fly-In discussed extra support for PPP loans and unemployment compensation in addition to how and if Congress should step in to "prohibit forgiven expenses from being taxed," according to a press release from NFIB.

“Since this pandemic began, I’ve been working with Arizona small business owners to ensure they could survive and keep their employees on payroll by fighting for the Paycheck Protection Program which provided $8.6 billion in relief to over 80,000 Arizona small businesses, and saved more than one million jobs," McSally said during the Aug. 20 meeting, NFIB reported. "NFIB Arizona members have been tirelessly working and innovating throughout this crisis. It was good to receive an update from them today about the additional support they need as we work to defeat this pandemic and allow people to return to work safely and sensibly.”
