Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey made clear that all votes need to be properly counted before any elections are called in the state.
With 84% of the voted reported as counted, Joe Biden is leading in Arizona with 51% (1,411,086 votes) to Trump’s 47.6% (1,317,568 votes).
Ducey said there are still a lot of votes to be counted.
“Arizonans turned out in historic numbers for this election, and we owe it to them to count their votes,” he said in a statement. “The results have shifted greatly hour by hour, and from last night until today.”
In an apparent dig at Fox News, which drew the ire of Trump and conservatives after calling Arizona for Biden, Ducey said no races should be called yet.
“With hundreds of votes still outstanding, it’s important that we be patient before declaring any races up or down the ballot,” Ducey said. “Arizonans have cast their votes and we need to make sure all their voices are heard fairly and accurately.”
Arizona may also have to deal with voter irregularities as well.
