Arizona GOP chairwoman Kelli Ward is challenging the results of the Nov. 3rd election all the way to the Arizona Supreme Court.
Ward has previously called for the inspection of ballot machines and ballots.
Ward said the lawsuit she filed challenges the signatures and duplicated ballots.
“The duplicated ballots are the ones that were damaged or bent or they wouldn’t go through the machine for some reason so an election worker from the election department filled in those ballots and recreated it for the voter,” Ward said in an interview with KTAR News.
Ward said the Democrats and the county have not been transparent in the matter and that has been frustrating.
“The most important thing is to get this right,” Ward said to KTAR News. “That’s what I’m doing as the chairwoman of the Republican party. That’s what I’m doing as an American patriot. That’s what I’m doing to save our republic.”
Ward suggested an audit of the voting machines, the individuals who worked at the elections offices and a hand count done.
“We should be shining light on what’s going on in Maricopa County — in Arizona in general — to assure every single voter out there that this election has integrity,” Ward said in the interview.
Ward said all they are asking for is a fair, transparent and open process. She said on calling out Gov. Doug Ducey on social media that while she and the governor don’t have enough of a relationship to have a rift, so she has no issue with him.
“When somebody is telling me that everything is 100% pure, 100% out in the open, that all the sunshine that needs to be shone has been shone and I have evidence that there are two ballots out of 100 are fraudulent, I have the right to say, ‘shut the heck up,’” Ward said.
Ward said while the case was dismissed on Friday, they chose to appeal to the Arizona Supreme Court.
“Hopefully we are going to see more action there,” Ward said in an update posted on the Arizona Republican Party Twitter. “We are asking to look at the 28,000 duplicated ballots that are in Maricopa County alone, as well as the digitally adjudicated ballots.”
Ward said there are more than 100,000 ballots that may be affected.
Ward also said on Twitter it was important to actually check the signatures on the mail-in ballots when re-checking them.
“Actually CHECK them though - if they are ‘inconclusive’ there must be another safety measure to ensure the vote was legally cast,” Ward tweeted. “Almost 2 MILLION absentee/early ballots returned in Maricopa Co & only 600 were rejected for signature mismatch. SIX HUNDRED. Why pretend to check?”
