Turning Point USA COO Tyler Bowyer said Sen. John McCain tried to bribe him years ago.

“When I was elected GOP Chair of Maricopa County, I met with Sen. McCain out of respect for his office & service,” Bowyer tweeted. “In the first, short meeting in his Senate office, he tried to buy me off by offering local chamber money he said he controlled”

Bowyer said he wasn’t even shy about it, but McCain’s tactics did not work.

“I was very young,” Bowyer tweeted. “I believe he and then-Senator Flake thought they could influence me. Sen Flake called me regularly after, until I decided to host Trump for what became the 1st Trump Rally in July ‘15.”

Bowyer said McCain and the former Sen. Jeff Flake then tried to attack him.

“Then they attacked me. Fervently,” Bowyer tweeted. “It’s everything that was wrong with the GOP.”

Bowyer said he was curious if there were others who caved.

“I always wonder how many people through the years got bought off or scared off by this kind of stuff,” Bowyer tweeted. “If the GOP decides to leave this kind of behavior behind, it will unite a movement that is totally unbeatable. I think that’s the most misunderstood battle from the Trump era.”

One user agreed, saying that old-school politics were the reason term limits needed to exist.

“This is how it works,” another user said. “How can anyone be surprised by this? This is like tweeting ‘I saw a fish swimming’. The system is totally corrupt from top to bottom. It’s been obvious for decades.”

Another user said patriots needed to take over and fix the issues.

“We need to help Trump drain the swamp by voting these corrupt politicians out of office,” the user tweeted. “No more BRIBES, no more $, no more LIES. We fix the election process & we vote them ALL out. Patriots takeover.”
