Chandler Fire Department issued the following announcement on July 28.
Sun’s out, grills out!
Grilling is a way of life for many people, but many fires are caused by careless operation of grills.
Please remember:
- Only use grills outside. Propane and charcoal grills are strictly designed for outdoor use where there is plenty of ventilation.
- Place grill on flat, level surface.Slopes or uneven surfaces can tip over easily and cause a fire.
- Always clean grill after use. If grease build-up is not cleaned, the build-up can then act as fuel and catch fire while the grill is in use.
- Keep children and pets at least 3 feet away from grill.
- Always make sure your gas grill lid is open before lighting it.
- Never leave your grill unattended.
