Cases added in this week’s COVID-19 data dashboard update are higher than they’d ordinarily be because we have added older data for a new provider reporting electronically.
The dashboard’s summary page reports new cases reported since last week’s update. That usually includes some COVID-19 cases from tests administered before the previous week. There are quite a few more in this update: over 20,000, of which approximately 3,500 are older cases recently added.
The best way to look for trends in cases is the COVID-19 Cases by Week section of the dashboard. It shows that cases reported for the week ending Sunday, June 26, decreased slightly.
We take pride in the data we’ve provided throughout the pandemic. Occasionally, because of the nature of real-time data reporting, circumstances mean new cases reported during a given week appear artificially higher or lower than they should be.
