Changing the Narrative: K-12 Indigenous Literacy & Literature Symposium on October 10, 2022

Do you teach Indigenous students? Are you interested in meaningfully integrating Indigenous literature in your classroom? Do you want to build your capacity for culturally sustaining-revitalizing practices?

Join the Office of Indian Education, Arizona Humanities and ASU Labriola Native American Data Center for a FREE in-person professional learning symposium. Participating educators will walk away with Indigenous authored books for their classrooms!

SESSION OVERVIEW: The Changing the Narrative: K-12 Indigenous Literacy & Literature Symposium is a unique professional learning event that is designed to build Indigenous-serving educators' capacity for culturally sustaining-revitalizing practices. At this symposium, educators will have the opportunity to learn how to accurately and respectfully integrate Indigenous-authored youth literature into K-12 classrooms. In addition to exploring diverse literature, educators will actively engage in designing lessons and resources.

TRAVEL STIPEND: Travel stipends for this event are available on a first come, first serve with a limited amount of seats. 

*Note: We will prioritize educators that teach on tribal lands and/or will travel more than 300 miles roundtrip.
