President Joe Biden (D) today signed into law H.J.Res. 7, which "terminates the national emergency related to the COVID-19 pandemic." This resolution was sponsored by U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) and co-sponsored by four additional Arizona members of Congress.

In a press release issued after Senate passage of the resolution, Gosar said the legislation would “end the more than 120 presidential authorities provided under the emergency declaration and safeguard our country from any further abuses by Mr. Biden."

The resolution passed the U.S. Senate on March 29, 2023 on a vote of 68-23. It passed the U.S. House on February 1, 2023 on a vote of 229-197.

Arizona Reps. Biggs, Lesko, Ciscomani, and Crane, all Republicans, were co-sponsors of the resolution.

U.S. Sens. Mark Kelly (D) and Kristen Sinema (I) both voted in in favor of the resolution. U.S. Reps. Greg Stanton (D) and Raúl Grijalva (D) were the only Arizona members of the U.S. House to oppose the resolution.
