Turning Point Action, a division of Turning Point USA, has expressed its thoughts on the recent move to remove Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy from his position. The motion was initiated by Representative Matt Gaetz from Florida. According to Turning Point Action, "For America First, draining the swamp is more than just something you say at campaign rallies. Rep. Matt Gaetz torches the bought & paid for shills in Congress. No more business as usual!" This historic event marks the first time in over a century that a Speaker of the House has been removed from office.

The motion to remove McCarthy was passed with a vote of 216 to 210, with eight Republicans siding with Democrats in favor of his removal. The House is now faced with the task of electing a new Speaker, and the vote is expected to take place next week. McCarthy has informed lawmakers that he will not seek re-election, leaving the position vacant.

The ousting of McCarthy has led to speculation about the reasons behind Gaetz's motion. McCarthy suggests that Gaetz's action stems from his decision to not assist in "tamping down an ethics investigation," while Gaetz claims it is based on job performance. Some have speculated that the decision could be related to funding for Ukraine, but McCarthy has clarified that there was no deal made with the White House on supplemental aid for Ukraine. Additionally, the short-term Continuing Resolution passed over the weekend, under McCarthy's leadership, does not include provisions for new financial assistance to Ukraine.

On Tuesday, Republicans vying for the role of Speaker will present their case. Some of the reported Republicans who may be considering a run include House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan, Republican Study Committee Chairman Kevin Hern, and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise.

The move to remove McCarthy has gained attention and support from conservative figures. Lou Dobbs, an American conservative political commentator, praised Gaetz and the other Republican lawmakers who supported the motion. Dobbs stated, "Conservatives Remove McCarthy as Speaker: Turns out there's very few in the House of Representatives that have a backbone."

Turning Point USA, the organization that Turning Point Action is a part of, is a prominent nationwide organization dedicated to conservative youth activism. Founded by conservative activist and radio talk show host Charlie Kirk, Turning Point USA has a presence in over 2,000 schools.
