Hayden Ludwig, the director of policy research for Restoration of America, said Hobbs “desperately wants voters to believe she’s cracking down” on the border crisis, but it’s “a ruse” to “improve optics.”
“With the U.S.-Mexico border completely overrun by illegal aliens, Chinese nationals, and potential Iranian terrorists, Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs (D) desperately wants voters to believe she’s cracking down on the crisis,” wrote Ludwig in an column at American Greatness.
On Dec. 15, Hobbs posted on X that she signed an executive order to mobilize the Arizona National Guard to the border.
Ludwig said this is order was a “ruse” as Hobbs did not announce that the National Guard would “seal the border or finish construction of President Trump’s effective wall.”
In December, Hobbs said she allocated $5 million “to bring order and security to the border.” Then, Ludwig wrote, “a local group discovered that Hobbs’ Office of Refugee Resettlement had reportedly funneled money to a resettlement group, Migration & Refugee Services, to fund, feed, clothe, and house illegal aliens in Tucson.”
Ludwig said it was part of “Hobbs’ nearly decade-long pattern of callous abuse of Arizona’s border.”
In 2016, 2017, and 2018, Ludwig wrote, then-State Sen. Hobbs “voted to defund Arizona’s Border Strike Force.”
Ludwig also said that in 2022, then-candidate Hobbs “attacked” former Gov. Doug Ducey’s (R-Ariz.) “efforts to block the border with shipping containers and razor wire.”
In 2022, Hobbs was endorsed by and “campaign alongside” Living United for Change in Arizona (LUCHA), which, reported Fox News, “a far-left advocacy group that wants to defund police and abolish border patrol.” Hobbs also “campaigned alongside” the group.
Before joining Restoration of America, Ludwig worked as a senior investigative research for Capital Research Center, investigating the funding of various left leaning movements and organizations.
Restoration of America was founded by West Point graduate and U.S. Army veteran Doug Truax with the mission of preserving the conservative ways of life in the United States.
