Merissa Hamilton and her organization EZAZ, joined with the Arizona Free Enterprise Club to write a letter to the Arizona Corporation Commission and urge them to stop the proposed WEF climate agenda proposed by utility companies. The plan would increase utility rates and negatively impact residents.
The proposed ESG plan would mandate increased usage of solar, wind, and battery storage, which are less reliable than traditional sources and could impact energy availability during Arizona’s extreme summer weather. The departure of traditional energy sources would also result in increased rates for residents.
“Respectfully, this, along with rejecting ESG, should be an easy ask of the Republican majority-led Corp Comm under the leadership of Jim O'Connor,” Hamilton wrote in a post on X.
"We strongly urge the Commission to protect Arizona ratepayers by rejecting these Plans,” the letter said. “If approved, they will cost ratepayers billions and result in likely rolling blackouts. The Commission should direct the utilities to forgo their environmental goals and start anew with the proper priority of providing reliable, affordable, and plentiful energy."
Hamilton is co-founder and chair of EZAZ.ORG, an organization aiming to register Arizona voters. She came in second in the 2020 Phoenix mayoral election running without a party affiliation. She also ran a write-in campaign for U.S. Senate as a Libertarian in 2016.
