The Arizona Commercial Vehicle Safety Partnership (ACVSP) will conduct its annual "Operation Southern Shield" from February 24 to February 28, 2025. The operation will take place on Interstate 10, stretching from Phoenix to the New Mexico state line, and on Interstate 19, from Tucson to the international border.

The ACVSP is composed of troopers from the Arizona Department of Public Safety's Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Bureau and officers from the Arizona Department of Transportation's Enforcement and Compliance Division.

This year's operation involves more than 80 commercial vehicle enforcement inspectors. These include personnel from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Pinal County Sheriff's Office, Pima County Sheriff's Office, Marana Police Department, and Goodyear Police Department. They aim to reduce the risk of collisions involving commercial vehicles by focusing on motor carrier safety regulations such as driver qualification, hours of service, and overall safe operations.

Enforcement officers will address hazardous moving violations, distracted driving, and seat belt violations while conducting inspections to ensure compliance with commercial vehicle regulations and state laws.

"The mission of the Arizona Commercial Vehicle Safety Partnership is to ensure safe, secure, and efficient commercial transport across Arizona."
