U.S. Senate candidate Kari Lake (R-Ariz.) received over $1 million in donations to her campaign at a fundraising event with former President Donald Trump at Mar-A-Lago. This set a new record for the most fundraised at Mar-A-Lago by a non-incumbent Senate candidate.

“We were honored by the support we received from Arizonans who joined us at our historic event at Mar-A-Lago last night, as well as the strong support from patriots across the nation who know that the Senate majority runs through Arizona and don’t want to see a Far-Left socialist like Ruben Gallego in the U.S. Senate,” Lake said in a release. “Arizonans want to see Senator Kari Lake because they know that she will work to secure the border and get our economy back on track.”

Lake is running for the seat of outgoing U.S. Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema (I-Ariz.). Sinema was elected to the seat in 2018 as a Democrat, but changed her party affiliation to Independent in 2022.

The Arizona Primary is scheduled for July, 30, 2024. Lake will face seven Republicans, including Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb.

Lake was born in Rock Island, Illinois. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor's degree. Before getting involved in politics, she worked as as a news anchor for Fox10 News Phoenix. Lake ran for Arizona Governor in 2022, and was endorsed by former President Donald Trump. She lost to Katie Hobbs by .7% in the general election.
