Kari Lake stated that President Biden’s latest executive order on the border crisis and Ruben Gallego’s corresponding border legislation are "purely political moves" for their election in November, claiming they are responsible for the crisis. The campaign issued the statement in a press release on June 4.

"This latest move is just another in a series of purely political moves made by radicals like Biden and Gallego in their attempt to salvage their chances this November," said US Senate Candidate Kari Lake, U.S. Senate Candidate in Arizona. "But Arizonans won't so easily forget the three years that Biden and Gallego spent refusing to secure our border as millions of illegal aliens came into our country unvetted, drugs poured into our communities, and crime skyrocketed. Arizonans will remember that Biden and Gallego are the ones who created this humanitarian and national security crisis in the first place."

President Biden issued an Executive Order on June 4 that would close the border to those seeking asylum if the total number of daily encounters at all ports of entry reaches above 2,500 people and would not reopen until the daily average is 1,500, NBC News reported.

In Fiscal Year 2024, the U.S. Border Patrol has seen 1,171,717 encounters at the border, according to the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) website.

According to the American Immigration Council, the new executive order would let migrants across the border based on the number desiring entry rather than whether or not they are legitimate asylum seekers, making the process "arbitrary."

Lake is running for the United States Senate in Arizona. She was the Republican nominee for Governor in 2022.
