Back to School means gearing up for the year ahead, and for many that includes addressing healthcare needs. Finding healthcare can be a daunting task, but Arizona Center for Rural Health Certified Assisters are here to help. Armed with years of experience, patience, and information, Navigators assist families in understanding their health insurance coverage and the benefits and eligibility for Medicaid (AHCCCS or KidsCare in Arizona), Affordable Care Act (ACA) Federally Facilitated Marketplace (FFM), and other coverage.

Maria Losoya has been helping people in Southern Arizona access healthcare for years. On a recent July day, she participated in a back-to-school event hosted by Nogales Public School District at the Ray Molera Gymnasium at Nogales High School in Nogales, Arizona. Maria provided more than just information about health insurance; she also handed out school supplies donated by the produce industry in Nogales.

Arizona Center for Rural Health Certified Assisters, or Navigators, are a vital link to information and access to healthcare for communities. They often hold regular information sessions or appointments in community spaces like public libraries, food banks, and events like the Back to School event held in Nogales.
