A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Maricopa County, Arizona, by us at the Grand Canyon Times on September 24, 2024. The request sought comprehensive information regarding ballots mailed for AEVL voters, early voting, overseas and military personnel, as well as other voters in the current election cycle.
The detailed information requested includes Registrant ID, VRAZ Voter ID, registration date, date added to voter list, effective date of change, Date of Birth/Age, full name (including first name, middle name and last name), registration status and reason for such status. Other details requested include county and precinct of registration, address details including city and state, contact information such as phone number and email address.
In addition to these basic details about the voters themselves, we also requested specific information related to their party affiliation and AEVL status. We further asked for data concerning the ballot itself including ballot ID, election date for ballots sent out, type of election for which the ballots were sent out. We also sought details about the request type (whether absentee, mail-in or early voting), request date and return date along with the final status of each ballot (whether accepted or rejected).
