Senate President Warren Petersen of Arizona has authorized a lawsuit against the Biden Administration, challenging the recent designation of nearly a million acres in northern Arizona as a national monument. Petersen describes this action as an unconstitutional land grab and is preparing for legal proceedings to be initiated by late 2023 or early 2024.

The lands in question are located within Coconino and Mohave Counties. Petersen argues that this move serves political interests rather than environmental protection, asserting it could negatively impact local citizens, the state's economy, and national energy supply.

"Our nation as a whole is suffering under the incompetence of the Biden Administration, and I will not sit back while he issues another unlawful executive order harming Arizonans," said President Petersen. He also criticized the administration's energy policies: "It's clear he has declared war on American energy production, as our citizens continue to feel the pain of $5 a gallon gas under his radical agenda."

Petersen questions the motives behind creating what is referred to as a 'Grand Canyon' national monument. "Using the guise of creating a 'Grand Canyon' national monument in a remote area that is not even connected to the Grand Canyon is completely disingenuous," he stated. He believes this decision targets mining and agriculture industries adversely.

As part of preparations for legal action, attorneys are identifying affected parties across various sectors in Arizona to form a coalition assessing the potential impacts of this federal decision.
