A trooper with the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) was involved in an accident on Interstate 10 in Buckeye on the evening of April 2, 2025. At approximately 7:30 p.m., the state trooper was parked on the right shoulder to complete paperwork from a non-injury collision report. The vehicle was stationed about 20 feet from the highway on a dirt shoulder when it was struck by a white Dodge Ram 3500 truck. The truck, towing a trailer with three vehicles, veered off the highway and collided with the trooper's vehicle at high speed, displacing it an additional 60 feet.
The trooper was transported to the hospital with potential head injuries for evaluation. He has since been released and is recuperating at home. "The injured trooper was released from the hospital on Wednesday night and is recuperating at home," a report on Thursday confirmed.
The Dodge Ram driver, identified as Andrii Mykhailivk from Brooklyn, New York, was uninjured in the incident. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Mykhailivk was arrested on suspicion of DUI and is facing related felony charges. "The driver of the Dodge Ram has been identified as Andrii Mykhailivk of Brooklyn, New York," authorities noted. The ongoing investigation continues to gather details from the incident.
