Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs once tweeted that Trump is supported by a “neo-nazi base.”
Hobbs is the first Democrat to have been elected to the post since 1995.
“@realDonaldTrump has made it abundantly clear he’s more interested in pandering to his neo-nazi base than being @POTUS for all Americans,” Hobbs tweeted in 2017 five months into her candidacy.

In Arizona, Hobbs is responsible for certifying the election results.
Her Twitter account notes she is a Black Lives Matter supporter and prefers the pronouns she/her.
Hobbs' Republican opponent in the race was declared the victor by the Associated Press on election night in 2018 before a count of 600,000 additional ballots saw her reverse a steep margin ending in a reversal in the election after it had been called.
Senate President Karen Fann (R-Prescott) has called for an independent investigation into the vote count.
Joe Biden was leading Donald Trump in Arizona by only 11,537 votes as of last count.
Trump has been lobbying for recounts in several states, including Arizona, where recounts are reportedly difficult to trigger and often rely on the same reporting mechanisms that produced the initial vote tally.
