Republicans in the Arizona legislature have noted their intent to withhold the state's electoral votes from Joe Biden.
Arizona state Rep. Mark Finchem said he and his colleagues are preparing a resolution that would stop the process of the electoral votes from being awarded to Biden.
“We are clawing our electoral college votes back, we will not release them,” Finchem said in a hearing today. “That’s what I’m calling on our colleagues in both the House and Senate to do—exercise our plenary authority under the U.S. constitution.”
Finchem noted the resolution would be filed in 24 to 48 hours.
“A simple majority can call the House and Senate back, and in a day can pass a resolution and cause those electoral votes to basically be held,” he added. “And it is binding—I’ll see y’all in court.”
In Maricopa County, there were irregularities and the GOP requested to postpone the election result certification. The judge, however, denied that request.
In Mohave County, the election officials have refused to certify the ballots.
Gov. Doug Ducey declared Biden the winner of the state on Tuesday. Biden won the state over Trump by 10,457 votes.
There have also been issues with Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, who once called Trump supporters neo-nazis.
