The Maricopa Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 to deny complying with the subpoenas sent by state legislators. The board decided instead that it would sue lawmakers to block the subpoenas.

Board Chairman Clint Hickman called the subpoenas, which were issued earlier this week,  unrealistic and unconstitutional.

The Arizona Republican Party tweeted about the decision.

“Maricopa Supervisors vote 4-1 to RESIST & fight the legislative subpoenas,” the tweet said. “Democrat @Steve_Gallardo & Republican Sups Clint Hickman, @jacksellers, @billgatesaz vote to take it to Court. Republican Sup @Steve_Chucri opposed the measure in favor of a transparent audit.”

There have been several statewide voting issues reported on since the election in November, including the voting machines in Maricopa County.

During the election, there were Dominion Systems representatives on hand in Maricopa County. They were also specifically named in the county election board’s Election Day plan.

Dominion has also been criticized for malfunctioning voting machines, PHX Reporter noted.

The lawsuit filed by the Arizona Republican Party filed last month was seeking a hand recount at the precinct level because of alleged irregularities.

Lawmakers announced their subpoenas for auditing the county’s machines earlier this week.

Arizona Senate Judiciary Chairman Eddie Farnsworth (R-Mesa) said in an interview with Right Side Broadcasting Network earlier this week that they had full support of the Senate to issue the subpoenas.

Farnsworth said to the news media that the subpoenas for the audit are in no way saying the board is to blame, but that the audit needs to be performed because of the alleged irregularities.

Across the country, approximately 30 percent of voters voted on Dominion-owned voting machines. The company has been noted to have ties with the Democrats.
