Rep. Joseph Chaplik (R-Scottsdale) told The Morning Ritual with Garret Lewis that he was confident his bill would get approved by the House Committee.
“I believe it’s going to be approved," he told Garret. He was confident to get a 5-4 or 6-3 vote.
Chaplik’s HB 2770 is a bill that he says gives back the freedom to business owners to make decisions, unloading them of the law enforcement required on the mask mandate.
It is a legislation that says businesses in Arizona are “not required to enforce on its premises a mask mandate that is established by this state, a city, town or county or any other jurisdiction of this state.”
He was proud to say that response from his constituents has been encouraging as he's gotten 15 emails thanking him, versus one negative response.
Chaplik clarified that if somebody wants to wear a mask then that’s OK, “but don’t force someone to wear a mask.”
There’s a need to break away from a year of masking up, he said. He also said that children at school also suffer, being surrounded by Plexiglas and still being required to mask up.
“I want to go back to the old normal. I don’t want the new normal,” Chaplik stated.
