Northern Arizona University Athletics issued the following announcement on Sept. 29.
The Lumberjacks are heading on the road for their first away matchups in Big Sky Conference play this weekend.
NAU will take on the Idaho Vandals in Moscow on Friday night at 6 p.m. MST, you can stream the match on ESPN+ here. The team will then travel to Cheney to take on the Eastern Washington Eagles on Sunday at 1 p.m. MST, and that match can be streamed through ESPN+ here.
The Lumberjacks head into this weekends matchups with a 2-7 record, aiming to pick up the pace and get back in the win column. Leading the offense for NAU is Maddie Shafer, with three goals and three assists. Shafer found her footing with goal scoring against Arizona Christian with two goals, and went on to score her third in the next match against Dixie State. She holds a shots on goal percentage of .556.
Freshman goalkeeper Natalie Manzo has seen the most time in goal for the Lumberjacks, recording one shutout and one combined shutout with Trinity Corcoran. Manzo has 821 total minutes, adding 60 saves and a save percentage of .750.
The Idaho Vandals are 7-2-1 going into Friday's matchup, making for their best record in program history. The Vandals are coming off a rivalry win against Idaho State and a one goal loss to Weber State. In goal for the Vandals is senior Avrie Fox who has recorded four shutout wins, allowing six goals and making 30 saves in her 643 minutes. Fox has a save percentage of .833.
Leading the Idaho offense is sophomore Maddy Lasher with three goals and one assist. Lasher is a returner for the Vandals who scored three goals in the Spring season. Friday night's game will be the first time the two teams meet since NAU beat Idaho in the semifinals of the Big Sky Tournament this past Spring. Madison Montgomery scored the teams game-winner off a penalty kick goal in the 14th minute of the match.
The Lumberjacks and Vandals hold an all time series record of 3-2-3, with NAU on a winning streak of two matches.
Heading into Sunday's match against the Eastern Washington Eagles, the Lumberjacks lead the series with a record of 13-9-2, with EWU on a three game win streak. The Lumberjacks last win against the Eagles was recorded in 2016.
Eastern Washington heads into the match with an overall season record of 3-7. The Eagles offense has put up ten goals, averaging one per game and putting up 75 shots. The teams goalkeeper, Kelsee Winston, has seen 801 minutes while recording 72 saves with a save percentage of .818. Winston has one shutout win on the season, and has allowed twenty goals total.
