The City of Phoenix is offering grants to people within the food supply chain who are interested in agri-food technology to address climate change challenges. Applications are now open for the Agri-Food Tech Innovation Grant, which is a part of the ARPA-funded Phoenix Resilient Food System Initiative.
The Office of Environmental Programs has $400,000 available to businesses, nonprofits, educational institutions, and sustainable food cooperatives across the entire food system that adopt agri-food technologies and innovations into their operations. The grant can help develop product prototypes, advance food equity, and lessen the food system's footprint on the environment.
Examples of qualifying agri-food tech include but are not limited to:
- Farm management software, sensing & Internet of Things (IoT)
- Irrigation/water tech
- Agrivoltaics
- Agricultural robotics, machinery, and equipment
- R&D
- Supply chain technologies
- Innovative food (cultured meat, novel ingredients)
- Food waste mitigation efforts across food system
- eGrocery online
- In-Store Retail & Restaurant Tech
