During the County Manager’s Report at the April 4, 2022 Board of Supervisor’s meeting, County Health Director Denise Burley announced changes in the manner of COVID-19 reporting.
Burley states “the termination of the Arizona Emergency Declaration in Arizona impacted several executive orders mandating reporting of COVID-19 related data at the state and local levels. As a result, data related to hospitals, vaccines for adults, and COVID cases related to school will no longer be available for reporting. Public Health has been working on a new trend reporting tool to ensure the public is informed of conditions in our county, and the new format will be rolled out twice a month beginning April 13th.” There will not be a COVID report this Wednesday.
Beginning April 13, Public Health will provide reports on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month until the end of the county fiscal year, June 30th. These reports will provide “trend” information on confirmed cases and deaths reported. Due to the elimination of mandated reporting, this will eliminate data items from being reported at the facility level, as a result there is no data to pull.
PCR specific data reporting is in alignment with industry best practice and reliability recommendations. The County Health Department will continue to keep the community and the Board of Supervisors updated if reporting requirements or processes change.
