Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey toured Los Sombreros Restaurant in Mesa recently and met with local business leaders to discuss economic success and growth around the state, saying "It's no secret Arizona's economy is booming."
According to a release on the governor's website, Ducey met Oct. 20 with Kurt Riske and Tim Madden, co-owners of Los Sombreros, and engaged in various discussions with other business leaders about Arizona's economic success and growth.
“Over the last eight years, we’ve taken action to allow small businesses like Los Sombreros to continue to thrive,” he said. “And it’s working. It’s no secret that Arizona’s economy is booming.”
Riske gave Ducey credit for his company's success and expressed anticipation for the future.
“We’re excited for what he’s done over the last eight years and especially over the pandemic," Riske said. "We’re fortunate to be one of the few states that was able to basically keep operating – and that was huge for us.”
Sally Harrison, president and CEO of the Mesa Chamber of Commerce, thanked Ducey for his efforts to boost the state economy, mentioning how he “continued to bring big business and small business into Mesa.
"The support we’ve had from the governor's office and the [Arizona Commerce Authority] has been crucial to those businesses choosing Mesa," Harrison said.
On Twitter, Ducey provided updates on his experience, saying: "Toured@LosSombrerosAZ in Mesa – one of the many small businesses in Arizona helping to grow our economy and create jobs. These bedrocks of our communities play a critical role in bolstering our economy. Thanks for having us today!"
Along with additional photos from his trip, Ducey touted his agenda on Twitter.
"Arizona has become a hub for business creation and opportunity," he wrote. "This success couldn’t have been made without the hardworking business leaders across our state. Reflected on eight years of embracing innovation, growth and free enterprise with East Valley business leaders today."
